The internationally recognized Norwegian instrumental duo “Ensemble Oktava” is preparing for a concert tour in Lithuania in April of 2015. The duo consists of violist Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota, who performs with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the famed Norwegian guitarist Anders Clemens Oien.

These superb musicians performed in Lithuania last fall at “The Northern Lights – 2014” concert series, charming audiences with their ardent playing and direct communication with music lovers. The subtle, yet vibrant sound, the tastefully selected program, the exceptional professionalism, and the clear contact with the audience – these are traits typical of this ensemble.

“Ensemble Oktava” often performs in different combinations, from duos to quintets, masterfully arranging the concert programs and instrument mix for the most varied audiences and concert venues. This time “Ensemble Oktava” will present a unique program of viola-guitar selections. We will hear the golden classics of Franz Schubert, ancient Norwegian, passionate Spanish rhythms, and the nostalgia of Argentine tango.

We are happy to report that the duo will also participate in “Gitaros Fiesta-2015”, an event particularly beloved by music devotees.

“Music have given me some moments of transcendent beauty and insight. There are things I can transmit trough my playing that I do not know how to communicate otherwise. My quest for these moments is at the heart of my music-making. And hopefully the audience will perceive my intention of sharing those moments.”

Anders Clemens Oien

“Music is the language of the soul. I cannot imagine how I could live without it… And most precious of all is performing chamber music. The experience of understanding each other totally without words as we play, as if descending into the depths of the music while breathing in unison, is so powerful that it becomes a yearning to share it with the listener in the concert hall. May he also be elevated above the prosaic, may he immerse himself into the stream of music together with us. “

Looking forward to see you at the concerts!
