“2nd International Classical Guitar Competition” will take place in Vilnius on 2018  February 22-24th. Undoubtedly, this will be a significant event for Lithuanian guitar fans, educators and schoolchildren. The number of the latter is growing every year, and young guitarists of our country are gaining more and more awards in international competitions abroad.

The organizers of the competition – Motus Recto, Arts Libera International and Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences – do not hide their ambition to make this contest a prestigious and renowned one in the whole of Europe in the future. According to the organizer of the competition and art director, well-known Lithuanian guitar performer and teacher Algimantas Pauliukevicius, 82 participants from Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Estonia, Australia have already registered. As the interest in the event is really high, it is possible to predict that the participants will be well prepared and actively compete for the awards. The exhibitions will be judged by seven well-known jury members from four countries: chairman of the commission Evgeniy Gridyusko,  Inga Raginienė and Saulius S. Lipčius (Lithuania), Elena Drozdova (Ukraine), Chris Ruebens (Belgium), Sergei Semenenkov (Russia), Oleg Kopenkov (Belarus).

According to the organizer and director of Arts Libera International, Gintaras Kamsiukas, the international classical guitar competition in Lithuania will significantly promote the popularity of this instrument, professional development, youth interest and employment, will make it possible to get acquainted with the achievements and best traditions of other countries in the fields of the development of guitar art, actively promote international educational, cultural and social cooperation.

Interestingly, during the competition, will be the opening lessons of Evgeniy Gridyushko and Sergey Semenenkov, as well as guitar and guitar notes releases. The exhibition of the posters of the Antakalnis Progymnasium Students for the Guitar Competition (curator Edita Rakauskaitė) will take place at the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, II Hall of the Lobby.

According to the organizer, everything will be done to make the participants feel comfortable and have good conditions for rehearsals. A great deal of attention will be paid to the creation of a positive micro-climate in order to minimize the psychological tensions of the participants in the competition.

Visiting all events is free. The competition will be held at the Lithuanian University of Education, the Second Chamber, T. Ševčenkos g. 31, in Vilnius.
